The Underground Abductor

On June 1st and 2nd, 1863, Union forces conducted a raid at Combahee Ferry, guided by intelligence from abolitionist and escaped slave Harriet Tubman. Hundreds of slaves were freed from plantations in South Carolina. It’s the only major raid in the Civil War planned by a woman, and it shows a different side of the famous Tubman.
